This is just solar science. The astronomers who follow this stuff publish this type of article every time we get a coronal mass ejection (CME) headed in Earth's direction because of the possibility of interference with orbital satellites, communications, or just to let you know there will be a good opportunity to photograph the aurora borealis.
Yes, the context of it being dangerous is when they start talking about magnitude of it. They invoke the Carrington event of 1859 (I think that's the right year), and give a history lesson as if we've had anything similar since.
Of course they're predicting so they have no idea how large the CME might be, so there's a fair amount of hype to take that 2/10 (gee, that's interesting news) and make it better bait for clicks.
It's good to remember that event, but it's also important to avoid fearmongering as there is no reason to suggest that every future event will be to such a degree, or even affect us noticeably at all.
Solar science is neat to follow; sensationalized science is always shit to follow though
I've always thought that coronal mass ejections are what get birthing people pregnant. Emperor caveat, I'm not a scientist.
Science? Muhahahajahaha

βAn eruption measuring C9.3 was just observed behind the east limb at 23:09 UTC (Jul 31). Due to the source location being out of direct view, this event was likely an M-Flare. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is likely, but will be directed away from Earth. Image by SDO/AIA.β
It was never every other day though, and they never EVER threatened blackouts or power outages. it being "just solar science" isn't the point whatsoever, & that comment was kinda "Bill Nye" of you.
Not about the science, its about the narrative push on a constant reoccurring basis on front page google, moreso now (tenfold) than any other time in the past.
(& No, I don't click the links, so it isn't like the algorithm thinks I'm really into solar flares)
