They survive off their airport deal. My guess is they make up in alcohol sales what they pay for cnn.

How many employees does CNN currently have? Heck, I bet it's under a thousand. Seems like an awful lot of profit for a small company. Wonder if it's laundering CIA funds or something similar.

CNN alienated the majority (conservative) market. They didn't act like audience share mattered. My guess is their real market was the IC community. With government funding, the audience was unnecessary. Now, the profits are down. We can hope that means their profit sources are drying up.
