Just got my 30 day sober chip tonight. Feels good to not be lost in a bottle anymore, especially when the rest of the world is such a mess. Also hitting a breakfast at the church I started attending tomorrow morning

Well, I guess since your so honest, I will be. I've been around the rooms around 18 yrs. Had 6 coins in a row, even those coveted black n gold key chains. Yea... then, well life again. I didn't go down the same path, bit went to drinking. Only a few years ago. I have all the tools, books, etc.. ugh, just can't seem to quite get to the, I want to pick up a white chip part! Ya know? God bless you! It's not easy, but , it I worth it my fren.

2
Jamezelo 2 points ago +2 / -0

I came into a new chapter of my life wether I liked it or not, my grandpa I took care of for 11 years passed, and I knew if I turned to drinking to handle that it would probably break me and finish destroying my life

I definitely know the game of quitting just to be roped back in.. multiple hospitalizations for pancreatitis couldn't even get me to quit

When I moved from grandpa's I ended up just a 3 minute drive from AA meetings so I didn't waste no time- got here on a Thursday and began attending the meetings on Friday and been going every day since. Also went to church for the first time that Sunday, so between the two they've helped alot

Do 90 in 90 as they suggest. It's so important! And I'm proud of you for knowing you needed to finally do it. I've been to aa Bill n Bob. I prefer na myself. But I'll take either. We do what we have to, to save ourselves. How I look at it. Personally I think everyone needs a 12 step program. It really changed me and opened my eyes. Message me if you want to. And congrats 30 days is Huge!!!!

Ps.. remember since your new. You have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason! Which means... listen , listen, listen. Lol. But true my sponsor always told me that. Listen to the old timers, they have the best knowledge. My best guy friend has 35 yrs. Dumb as a box of rocks in life, but when comes to recovery, oh man! He's got this! You've got this!

Today I thanked the Lord for the healing power of rhubarb juice. Cut my finger badly: put a few slices in a garlic press, poured the juice over the cut and the bleeding stopped. It was a deep cut made with secateurs, wondered if I'd need stitches. Said a few prayers and it seems to be healing up. Thank God it wasn't worse.

So last night Arizona had the lead over Texas, which made sense. But today, Texas is above Arizona. I love this since I am from Texas, but I don't understand why. Arizona is on fire right now with their primaries, and even as a Texan I would put them over us for that alone.

So can anyone fill me in on what Texas has done to deserve the number 2 spot?

3
SuddenRealization 3 points ago +3 / -0

Think it is the perception of people who live outside of Texas...

Meanwhile Texans are frustrated with Abbott about the 2020 election, Texans have Dan "ONE EYED WEF" Crenshaw and Ted "J6 rioters were terrorists" as Senators, voting machines all over (think Texas lean left polling in 2020), and Beto is apparently a semi-serious candidate because of places like Austin.

3
Mister_Winston 3 points ago +3 / -0

Crenshaw is a House rep for a district in Houston. But he's still a WEF clown who admonished his constituents to their faces over election fraud. He pissed off every conservative in Houston and somehow got over 70% of the vote recently. Rigged.

Abbott leads from behind stronger conservatives. He only has the guts to face down leftists when Desantis does it first. It was the most obvious during covid. He shut down bars while allowing restaurants to stay open. My friends who are Republican bar owners felt betrayed and almost had to sell their businesses.

We also still have rampant voter fraud in San Antonio and Houston. One ballot trafficker just got convicted, but that's all that's happened. Beto wouldn't even be a speed bump in the race if not for fraud in SA and Austin.

1
SuddenRealization 1 point ago +1 / -0

I feel like I am having the Mandala effect with Crenshaw..why did I think he was senator

2
Mister_Winston 2 points ago +2 / -0

Because he gets more media than Senator Cornyn. Controlled opposition ALWAYS has more air time and is well funded.

3
YeshuaSupreme 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah, Texas could really use some of that ULTRA MAGA ENERGY.

Are businesses still being paid pandemic pay? Bc I just saw that Seattle is dropping it. So is the economy still being propped up. I do know that most dentist are only working 3 day work weeks. Same with doctors.

1
BettyBlue76 1 point ago +1 / -0

Good question. I was wondering why the Dr team (dad and daughter) are no longer in the office on Fridays, just a third doctor is there. Also wondering why they have a great big covid vaccine sign in the waiting room. This is a pediatrician office. Maybe that it explains it.

2

King Insley is still in power and he still has us under HIS emergency powers! F****Head! What an absolute POS. I'm still getting hazard pay, like I was in any danger, but we have very strong unions here. That's why the cost of living is so outrageous. I moved from Oregon to WA 7 years ago and, every hear that cliche, from the frying pan into the FIRE. How true.

I live in the deeeeeeepest of cesspools, New York. But I am upstate, about 250 miles from the NYC pit of corruption. Life is OK here, and especially in the mountains, where I am right now. Deer, bears, chipmunks, squirrels and birds are what I am paying attention to. My other place is in a small village, a suburb of a small city. Life there is pretty quiet, but our governor is a commie, completely, through and through. Maybe that will change in November. One of my most memorable relationships was with a 700 lb. bear. He would sit beside me and I would feed him dog biscuits. That was so great!!

2
swimkin 2 points ago +2 / -0

I lived in Upstate NY for over 40 years. I moved out the day before my AR15 was illegal. Haven't been back. I feel for all the Patriots still in NY State and I know there are A LOT of them overruled by NYC and other liberal cities. Hopefully, the evil will be removed soon.
I will be watching both NY and CA..... Hang in there. Better times are coming!

2
polish_snausage 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hi fren!! NY is a beautiful State tho, the mountains, the lakes.

It's a shame it's run by and home to lots of commies and sheep.

Why does my latest thread not show thumbnail on main board? I’ve had this issue before it doesn’t appear to be marked nsfw.

3
bubble_bursts [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

It all depends on the timing on the server when the post is made. There is a small chance that the thumbnail generation takes too long (this is my guess) and the system assigns it the default Q thumbnail. Feel free to delete it and create a new post.

Voted down on Nevada, it use to have a libertarian streak to it, but the weight of Californian s escaping the cesspit they created only to vote to create a new cesspit is becoming too much.

Recently moved to Ohio and I’m not sure how to feel… it’s definatly not a leader in MAGA, but seems to tepidly dip it’s ties into the MAGA pool. Really hampered by RINOs like Dewine, but the state Legislature has been able to reign him in on some of his more idiotic instincts, so yeah, not a MAGA leader, but not a deepstate lair either… maybe call it an active battleground?

1

As a Texan I upvoted Florida and downvoted my own State. We've got a serious issue with Abbott and he's going to do Jack shit to address our problems when he's reelected. He's going to start ignoring immigration again and I wouldn't be shocked if he shut us down over money pox after last time. He'll stab us in the back and take money from the Feds in an instant if he thinks it'll give him more power.

OK so given this, here's a Crim track I've been enjoying lots lately, kind of a rediscovery. This is the "double trio" lineup. Tony Levin is the bald bass player. Trey Gunn is actually on Warr Guitar here - probably the main "Jaco" type playing here. (Other players: Bill Bruford of Yes is the drummer in yellow coat. Adrian Belew is on (primarily) lead guitar, fronts the band on songs with vocals. It's Fripp's band, so he gets to sit on a stool.)

Question of the day:

A fairy godmother appears and gives you a choice between either giving you a million dollars on the spot, or else granting you the ability to be able to reach into your pants pocket and always magically pull out a hundred dollar bill.

Which do you choose?

1
NicoleDuhtrole 1 point ago +1 / -0

FIRE enthusiasts know the 4% rule. So 1Mil * 4% = $40,000/year and increasing to keep up with inflation back when it was like 3%/year or so. Lame! I can wait a few months to save up for a house using option 2.

2
Jak4 2 points ago +2 / -0

#2. Lol.

18
FractalizingIron 18 points ago +18 / -0

Lessee....

1,000,000 / 100 = 10,000

Working hours in one day. Lessay 5 hours. How many times can you reach into your pocket and pull something like a bill out? Without your skin getting overly sore/inflamed?

20 times in one minute x 5 times per hour = 100 x $100 every hour = $10,000 per hour x 5 times per day = $50,000

Do this 4 days per week = $200,000 per week.

Do this only 1 week per month = $200,000 per month.

5 months = $1,000,000.

In terms of actual time, tho, 100 minutes (1:40:00) per week, = 8.5 hours per year = $1,000,000.

I'll take #2, thanks.

Now, why is my godmother a fairy? That's what I want to know.

It’s literally just Hennepin county and parts of St. Louis county. The rest of the state seems moderate or right-leaning. If you drive out of Minneapolis or Duluth, it doesn’t take long before you see signs for GOP or Trump flags everywhere.

1
valley-lily 1 point ago +1 / -0

Parts of Rochester are also liberal hive minds, mostly because of the Mayo Clinic there and all the simps for the vax and masks. Other than that the whole state is pretty much red, though there are still pockets of blue here and there, mostly in college towns like Mankato or Winona due to college students or teacher unions.

2

I'm back and forth on my state of Alabama on the poll. Want to downvote because our Governor is a RINO (Ivey), she hates non-vaxxers, spends our tax money on shit only she wants (I'm sure to line her own pockets) like the property she bought for jails when our state already had land for new jails and the I-10 Bayway Toll project she keeps pushing. She kept pushing the mask mandate further and further during the plandemic. I believe they cheated for her during the primaries. Some of our representatives are ok, made some bad choices at times but not sure there was others better to take their places at the time. Without a lot of people backing new upcoming politicians from the beginning it's hard to get them out in front of people, especially when the politicians that have been around awhile out do them with money and back scratching.

And I know everyone has to pay a crap load of taxes wherever they live, but our taxes are getting out of control in my opinion. Tax you for everything, and the sales tax can be slightly different in each town. We pay (besides federal) state tax, sales tax (9.5% up to 10% around my area) even on food, gas tax I believe just went up again also, every kind of property tax (home or vehicle), now they are adding another "penny tax" to homeowners for the schools (seems like every year they add more taxes to homeowners for schools) but then parents who have kids in public schools have to pay a registration fee per child along with other class fees. And now that all our properties have been valued higher, that's more they can tax us on our homes.

With all that said we do like living here, out of all the places we have lived (6 places/areas, 4 different states) we like it here the most, though we wish we could get out of a neighborhood and more in the country, right now we just can't afford it and don't know if we ever will be able to, to be honest.

Some of the communities/people here are some of the nicest/friendliest, people will come together to help their neighbor or a neighbor/friend/family of someone they know. Communities here will stick together and back each other up. Though just like other states, there are areas where the people are only out for themselves. I can say though here in the south, don't mess with people's families or second amendment.

Sorry so long of an explanation, but some things here are good and others not so good, but I imagine that can be said about any state.

I'm a little confused on the poll, why are some states down voted? Shouldn't we just vote yes once for the state we're in?

And on that note, I know there are a ton of WASHINGTON peeps here, get in there and vote! Our state needs you! We need all the help we can get. Dan Newhouse has got to get out of there.

Downdooted Maryland "The Free State" for ya. But I see Mass. and NC are tied!! Wahhhhhh!

1
PowderRoomPolitics 1 point ago +1 / -0

Maryland the 'Free state?" I always thought it was NH.

2
bigsix 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think NH is 'Live Free or Die', but it could have more nicknames.

Live Free or Die" is the official motto of the U.S. state of New Hampshire, adopted by the state in 1945. It is possibly the best-known of all state mottos, partly because it conveys an assertive independence historically found in American political philosophy and partly because of its contrast ... Wikipedia

Maryland's motto is 'The Old Line State' referring to the Mason-Dixon Line, but a Maryland nickname is:

Free State. Maryland was first recognized as a "Free State" on November 1, 1864. On that date, the Maryland Constitution of 1864 took effect. By its provisions, slavery within the State's borders was abolished, and Maryland, indeed, became a free state. To celebrate the emancipation, under direction of the Baltimore City Council, five hundred guns were fired, bells were rung, and flags displayed "to attest the joy of the people at their great deliverance."

1
PowderRoomPolitics 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ahh, fascinating! So free for all American males, regardless of color... That makes sense. But as Alexander The Great once said to a young man who lacked courage, and shared his name- "Change your ways or change your name!"

https://www.freedominthe50states.org/overall/new-hampshire

https://www.freedominthe50states.org/overall/maryland

I hope Maryland will some day live up to its nickname.
