The payback for the associated energy use is within about 5-7 months, and even in the worst case scenario, lifetime energy requirements for each turbine only takes 1 year of operation.1 So for the next 19 years, each turbine will, in effect, power over 500 households without consuming electricity generated using conventional energy sources, and if the turbines end up operating for over 20 years, that's just a bonus.
Thanks! Of course, there is always the question of if that info is correct. It would be great to be able to trust the sources. I've become very cynical.
"Based on the assumptions made, the results of this study can be used to conduct an environmental analysis of a representative wind park to be located in the US Pacific Northwest."
IOW, this study was likely "commissioned" to justify a massive contract for a wind turbine farm.
Also, go look at the amount of oil that is used in the turbine... and what happens when those turbines leak everywhere.
Each turbine holds between 80-100 gallons of oil that must be replaced every year.
But hey, that's some clean energy right there.
Whenever I see a statement like this I think, well, that could be true but who did the figuring, the calculations?
It's off, like most of these memes are.
I found this:

Bullshit does not take into account the manufacturing requirements and disposal at end of life. Plus 80-100 gallon oil changes every year.
Thanks! Of course, there is always the question of if that info is correct. It would be great to be able to trust the sources. I've become very cynical.
From the 1st source cited in the article:
"Based on the assumptions made, the results of this study can be used to conduct an environmental analysis of a representative wind park to be located in the US Pacific Northwest."
IOW, this study was likely "commissioned" to justify a massive contract for a wind turbine farm.
Same... I want to believe.
Who was the oil tycoon who got this fiasco started? At one point he was on all networks all the time.
And the windmills need oil to lubricate the gearboxes among other things.
These windmill are good at generating lots of money for politicians,
