The issue of what is used for money is the real question. All our money is based on this federal reserve system. Some government system is going to be responsible for managing the money, and no matter how you slice it that's going to be vulnerable to manipulation. The temptation to debase the currency by the people with the money printing power is irresistible. Our government is not going to stop deficit spending, and that will mean expanding the money supply, federal reserve or not.
