Since it is National Dog Day, I just wanted to lend my two cents: I think dogs are a physical manifestation of God's grace. It has been said that when God made all animals, he didn't make the dog because he already had one.

There is a story about how when the world was created, the Great Spirit spread a giant tapestry across the void, and on that tapestry he placed all things living - man, woman and all animals. He took his finger and drew a line down the middle of the tapestry, and the creatures began to move to either side of the line depending upon whether they were human or animal. A great chasm began to form, as if to separate the two groups, and it grew wider and wider. At the point right before the chasm became too wide to cross, Dog jumped over and stood by Man.

My voice is but a simple one Tired of the lies, Just give me the truth

I’ve been there, I know what you’re going through

I felt darkness most cannot understand It began when my family ended

As a little girl of seven Torn between two parents

Who liked to pit her against each other When in my teens severe depression began

I began having the worst ever mood swings Not ordinary teen angst

But a much darker lethal kind Always accused by my mother of using drugs I never did

Responsibility piled heavily on With no trust or freedom given

The darkness clouded my eyes beginning then And only continued on

I tried to end myself slowly with starvation Then a diagnosis of bipolar 2 came at 19

Following an end I tried to claim It didn’t work thankfully

You see, I gave my life to Jesus As a young girl of five He has saved my life since many times

How I knew at that age what I was doing was a miracle in itself, but I did, I truly did

I saw many year off and on with periods. of literally visual and emotional darkness When it was bright outside and warm outside I saw dark haze through clouded eyes

Tried a couple more times in vain To escape physical and emotional pain

God has had his hand on me Through broken bones and back and now excruciating sciatic pain

I now have 5 & 7/8 Grand babies, #6 arriving soon I know and love and wouldn’t trade This experience for the world

To be here for them, to love and hold And watch them grow Is worth all the pain in the world

So I’ll stay on my crazy roller coaster ride Til God says I’m done

Cause he’s told me many times There’s much more work Yet to be done

And my reward will be many days in the sun
