Lol, these people think we've never worked retail? That's how I got to where I am today with a professional sales job in finance. Working in the real world and building skills to get more opportunity turned out to be way more valuable than any of my friends who went to college for four years with a ton of sunny and still have mediocre paying jobs. Not the case for all degrees but the trade school/life experience vs general college degree mantra is certainly true.
It's time parents start outlining all the options for their kids and let them pursue what they want to do instead of acting like university is the only option.
