I am in the industry, this is called "Demand Response". These people signed up for this program, agreed to have their energy curtailed, and got paid for it. Going to the media and complaining about it is ridiculously hypocritical at best.
If I shut off internet access to my thermostat, can they still shut it down? California is threatening blackouts this weekend. Iβm taking my thermostat offline now.
It want matter if the power goes out.
And they want all electric cars lmao
They want total control.
I heard that they can drive by in a van an turn it off remotely if the internet is down. It may just make it more inconvenient for them to turn it off.
This should give people pause to think. If they can shut off your heat whenever they like, what else can they shut off?
Your life by way of their control over your digital currency. They are showing you the absolute power of the beast system.
I do have Ecobee thermostats. They are super handy. I do NOT participate in eco+ which is the mechanism a power provider could throttle the thermostats. I have raised my thermostats when our power distribution company has sent out an alert.
Ainβt nothing but convicts around me , at the Denver County πππ

I warned about this months ago if you allow Xcel to INSTALL a internet accessible meter on your house you have granted them access to your power SUPPLY! You had to opt out of the program for an extra 25 a month for a non internet accessible meter. I went off on Xcel numerous times opted out told them my meter was completely replaced 2017 there is no need for a new one, call and complain OPT OUT!
