It worked really well for my cousins who had shit credit and could rent to own over time. They've all quit doing it I'm thinking because they got their finances figured out and just outright buy stuff when they need it instead of credit or payment plans. Or they realized it's more expensive.
Opportunistic jackals taking advantage of loser consumers.
Worked there once upon a time.
For about 3 weeks.
Quit, telling them that I hated the business model, the cold calls to people listed as customers' references, and the customers themselves.
I remember coming to take back a dishwasher from an apartment. There was no other furniture in the place except for a single chair and a shitty TV. 10+ cats, and DOZENS of piles of cat shit. Dude looked up from his stupor at us, the piles of shit, and said "damned cats", like they were to blame for having normal bodily functions..
Another woman cussing us out for repossesing her giant tv from her section 8 apartment full of kids.
Have you actually seen the prices at these ‘Rent to a Deadbeat’ Centers? 3x’s the retail price if you were to buy it outright.
What happened was they used to be bargains. But with online shopping now and online discounts you can buy what you need outright used or refurbished.
Rent a center concept probably reached its apex in the late 90s max. It just hasn't adapted with the changing times.

Fb Marketplace has furniture all the time. People need to stop wasting their money.
and stop using darpa systems
You can still find great furniture at yard sales too or goodwill stores.
Estate sales, too!
For those who are free from FB addiction, you can use the Nextdoor app for buying and selling stuff in your area, just like FB marketplace.
Ooh! Thanks! I'm not addicted, personally, but I was at one point in time. :(
This was a shit company anyway.
