I’m 20 years old now, but this happened back when I was 18. I took an art class. I ain’t gonna pretend like I was a good student. I wasn’t involved, hated my life, wanted to die, cheated on some of my assignments and didn’t do the rest. One of the things that pushed me to drop the class, was the fact that they were pushing horrible propaganda. We were shown NAKED little girls and they framed it as art. The artist was some southern woman who was a feminist. She took pictures of her own daughters naked. I don’t remember her name, nor do I wish to look it up. The school, lenoir community college, approved of this. At that time, I just wanted to get it out of my head, but I wish I publicly said something.
I was remembering my time there and those unfortunate images popped back up in my head. I told my dad and he immediately called up a family member who works there. She was pretty resistant to the government’s efforts to jab her and refused a lot of the bad treatment and she almost took that to the grave with her. I thought she would’ve seen through the bullshit, but she drank all their kool aid. She said that it’s understandable that I’d be uncomfortable, but “you sometimes have to go in with an open mind”. I am disgusted.
While I didn't have THIS experience, I can confirm, that modern community colleges are as retarded and evil as 4 year universities. I'm a years older than OP and I've been out of the education system for a few years now entirely, but I remember my first year of college VERY WELL. It was a strange mixture for me. On one hand, my history professor was some old 90 something codger who was a legitimate racist who said N#####r and C##n in class, even to the black kids. On the other extreme, my English professor was some middle aged whore from Colorado (The school was in the rural south, that's as far as I'm willing to go), who had a weird nature kink and would force us to read poems and short stories about people having actual sex with trees.
Unlike the OP, I actually told the English professor, and I quote "This is the stupidest shit I've ever read in my entire life, and you're weird for forcing us to read it." Surprisingly, I didn't get kicked out or fail the class. She actually welcomed debate and I ended up getting an A for being the only student who didn't parrot whatever she said during class and calling everything what it was. Weird kinky tree shit horse crap.
But I digress, community college isn't much better, maybe trade schools are better, but if you take any kind of "liberal arts" classes, then you'll end up with weirdos.
