What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
I traded my car in for an older one, that is an upgrade in most ways, including a lower payment through a credit union instead of Capital One, and it has a cd player!!! I cannot wait to listen to my collection again! I just ordered two Pat Metheny albums that are highly sought on vinyl and I'm always outbid on to play in there on cd and not have to rely on my phone's data.
My credit was so great the guy said I could buy the whole lot. Hahaha! There was a 2019 Shelby Mustang with a 350 and manual transmission I wouldn't have minded having, I'll admit!
My husband and I have discussed the remastered music subject. One thing we noticed with remastered older music they are using a recording of the artist when they are older. Many artists voice isn’t as good at the older age. There’s a Walton Jennings album that was recorded maybe in the 80s, his voice isn’t as good. It’s not remastered. We pay for family Spotify & I like it a lot. I make playlists to avoid the bad remaster copies. I refuse to listen to the radio & they decide what I listen to. The only downside I find with streaming is the when my power is out so is my wifi. We live in a very dead cellar area & nothing loads relying on cellular. That’s something I don’t understand why in this age of technology we have so many dead zones. Having the vinyl album turntable is a big plus. We have Audio-Technica brand turntable.
I agree about cassettes. I don’t miss them at all. Probably the best thing I liked about then was recording music off the radio. I had radio clock cassette combo in high school and used it a lot. I’m thankful for better technology today.
CD? Is that older than the uh, oh 8-track thingy? My dad told me all about those. Made by Beta Max I think. They later came out with VHS or Cassette, I can’t remember since I iTune everything. But so CD huh? What does that stand for? :) :) :)
I feel old! I remember 8 tracks from my childhood.
This is the order of music released: Vinyl (I’m not sure when it started) 8tracks Cassette CD (compact disk)
Now we have gone full circle. Vinyl started making a comeback in the last decade. Most artists release vinyl and maybe a CD with their new music. I love the pop & crackle of old vinyl. It’s my favorite way to listen to music. I do stream on Spotify for convenience.
I think beta max was like a VHS for movies. Possibly before VHS.
Yes indeed. A lot of the Inde-pop and electronic synth groups do special/limited release vinyl LPs besides CDs. Kinda like collectors items.
All my old cds are scratched to hell
If you garden you can make a reflective device to keep away birds. I never got around to it. A few years ago birds were eating my tomatoes. I saw directions to string them together with fishing line.
Too funny, I was just missing having a CD player in my car. What to do with all of them with nowhere to play?
My husband has a PS4, but I never used it. Hold on to them! You may find a cheap system or player!
I had a car that had a 12 disc changer in the center console.
My car 2006 Pathfinder still has CD player too. Sadly I never use it. I like my very low tech ride. Just hit 176K miles, I'm the original owner
Awesome!
