We have been charged by Q, PDJT and countless others to stand up NOW. Pedes, you don't have to make a huge wave, just a small splash again and again. My current story: I have been waiting to become a Hospice volunteer for a long while and give back. Finally applied, and the process is as comprehensive as applying for a job. Then came the Vaxx/boosted question, to which I of course replied No. Was told I could apply for religious exemption, which I did.
Afterward, said Hospice director emailed me that we needed to have an "interactive conversation" about my sincerely held religious belief. Wanted to know how this affects my other health care decisions. Training begins tonight, so I needed to make a decision quickly. DH gave me several suggestions about things I could say. However, at the end of the day I told him this was infringing on my right to privacy. Would love to work with clients/families who don't care about boosting, but I feel if a gave even a millimeter more, it would be a win on the wrong end.
So, unfortunately, it looks like Hospice will lose someone with so much to give to another human going through end of life. But, it was time for another splash.
Good for you standing your ground but too bad for those that you would have helped. It's a shame what these tyrants are doing to society.
Cite Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. "Title VII of the Civil Rights Act requires healthcare employers to protect their medical staff and employees from harassment and discrimination and respond to any such behaviors swiftly and effectively, even if the actor is a patient, rather than a coworker or supervisor." and "Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on religion and requires that employers provide reasonable accommodations for employees' sincerely held religious beliefs, practices and observances."
They are setting themselves up to be the SMEs who can validate "sincerely held" beliefs
I have an idea. Think about telling the director that you understand THE VALUE of Hospice for end-of-life compassionate care that is undertaken by A WILLING PATIENT.
Hospice is A CHOICE. Not everyone will agree to Hospice and may CHOOSE to fight to the very end and try other life-saving options if they want, right? Either way, it is THE PATIENT'S CHOICE.
The Director should certainly agree with you about PATIENT CHOICE. Thus, she/he should understand completely why you don't wish to be injected with something tested on animals or involving the use of fetal or animal tissues in the manufacturing process, as you are a Christian and a member of PETA or a Vegan (or similar.)
That is why you will be an especially good volunteer for the job BECAUSE IT IS YOUR CHOICE to help and offer kindness and support to a patient WHO WANTS IT.
Thank you for those words.
Indeed to all.
👌
So many talented, amazing individuals such as yourself are being cast aside for the pettiest of reasons. Take heart that you DO make a difference whether employed in that specific hospice of not. God bless
Thank you. I WILL find another avenue to volunteer to help those beginning their passage. It is a calling, but I will not sacrifice a small battle in the large war here.
Hospice nurses working with my elderly family members are the reason this was put in my heart. Truly, angels.
When my employer asked me to fill out a religious exemption, I told them that the 1st Amendment was my exemption, and that nobody short of God could decide if I were worthy of it. I don't fault anyone for going the exemption route, because it is a sure when under Title VII, but like you, I did not want to compromise.
I threatened my management chain with personal lawsuits, and eventually won. I documented it all on GAW. Here's the last of the series with links to the other parts.
