Good lord almighty.
Look, the 2nd Amendment does not mean anyone can bring a firearm anywhere they want at any time.
Exactly
Firearms are banned when the president speaks (ANY president, including Trump), so why not the governor? I am not following the point to this post. The right of the people is not being infringed in any way. People don't have to go. It is a choice.
He is not the President and it is against current law to ban guns in this location which means one is giving up the second amendment for safety. Someone else's safety, to attend. I'm surprised how easily people are willing to accept this.
"Shall not be infringed". You sound like a loser liberal.
Well, better than an uniformed person such as yourself. Read what I wrote. No one is infringing on anyone's right. They are doing what they think is necessary for safety reasons. A Governor is every bit as important as a President. They are the leaders of sovereign states. No one is saying that you can't have, buy, or sell a gun. No one is saying you are not allowed to own or carrying a gun...just anywhere but there. It is a CHOICE. If you don't like it, don't go. It is NOT going to affect you. Companies are allowed to bar firearms from their campuses. States have the right to bar firearms from courtrooms and state offices. People can't yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Do you consider that a violation of your 1st Amendment Rights? Newsflash...it isn't. If the venue owner where the speech is being made requires the event to be gun free, then they have the right to do so. YOU have the right to not go.
I strongly support the second amendment. I also strongly support not having any firearms present at such an event. Do you think that the only people that attend such rallies are ardent supporters of the speakers? I think not. They have to have some form of control over the safety of the speaker. This is clearly the most necessary action to take.
I can appreciate this, but maybe try a different venue, such as a private location where a right is not being taken away to achieve this. As a youtube civil rights lawyer says, freedom is scary, deal with it.
"Shall not be infringed". Even a monkey can understand.
Not sure this is anything. Can a person bring a firearm to a Trump rally?
President is a whole different ballgame. Laws are different around him, and in fact, laws are being essentially broken to make this public location a gun free zone. Would not be ok if Kathy Hochul did it. It is not ok for DeSantis to do it. If he will do it here, he will do it anywhere.
You were more than polite, but I'm a little disappointed how many, particularly on a site like this one, get offended if you choose not to trust someone. Blind trust has gotten us here. This is mearly an example of him being who I believe him to be. Just like the handful of folks on Fox saying the things we like to hear. Sounds good, but I don't trust them either. A Yalie is going to have to prove me wrong. Honestly, I hope he doesn't get a chance, but if he does I hope I am wrong.
Don't overthink it. The guy is just trying not to get shot. Especially when "we the people" have a solid number two guy. All it takes is one crazy lefty who thinks desantis causes hurricanes to ruin the whole thing.
I never trusted him. This is just am example. 1A and 2A are the only thing standing between us and the likes of Canada, Australia, on and on. If you allow caveats, even a little, you will lose them all. He is choosing to break standing law to take that right away. My lines are simple and clear.
FYI Business Insider is leftist propaganda. Why they're being cited here is a good question.
You can find it anywhere. Go ahead, trust him. Sometimes even people who know better blindly follow that which they wish to be true. For those sitting in the back, it is against the law there to ban firearms in such a location.
You can pick and choose as you like. I demand all of my rights. Nothing less will do. Follow the pied piper and see where he leads you.
You apparently can't respond to why you cite a leftist propaganda source so you decide to attack me for something not there at all - whether I support DeSantis or not and whether I follow anyone blindly, also not there.
I absolutely did respond. You can find it anywhere. Information is the same regardless of where you get it. I checked. Gun free zone required. That is the information. I could put twenty different links for you to pick the one you want to try to understand it it from, but that would be dumb.
It's not a gun free event though, because it will be protected by men (and women) with guns.
Careful who you follow.
🤔
Not a good move by the governor. President Trump can attack him for being anti-gun and anti second amendment.
