For Japan, losing Taiwan to China could be a disaster as it would jeopardise key shipping lanes that supply nearly all of Japan’s oil and other materials it uses for manufacturing.

Each country should defend itself. The USA should not be subsidizing the defense of any foreign nation.
Peace comes from economic cooperation through trade.
...doggy winks...
Pacific: (Sweats nervously)
...absolutely...
I don't they can afford to build much.
They are broke like everyone else.
I've said it before - CCP will never allow Japan to be forgiven for WW2. Japan knows this. Assume USA is MIA now. India, Viet Nam, Philippines, Japan, ANZUS (minus America) could deter CCP from action. Especially 1.2 billion Indians.
Thing is, Russia is playing a two or three sided game. They know if USA goes down Russia is next on the menu for CCP. Russia is the key to everything right now. They're fighting the CBDC, I think, fighting the Globalists, need to keep China from gobbling up everything as the USA actively helps them, esp. financially with the unique Wall Street rules they get.
There are so many players and agendas going on now I have no idea how it's gonna play out. Unfortunately, I don't think they know either. WW2 was done when Germany declared war on USA on Dec 9th, 1941? This isn't 1941.
