I agree it should be a pay model. People who are trying to grow a real personal brands will pay for it.
Absolutely. And if the market decides the blue checkmark is bullshit and pointless, then they're just a little slow to realize what has already been realized by millions.
Twitter has value for small brands and (mostly) independent creators, e.g. small business or so on. Blue checkmarks class system was pretty stupid, and goes against what the platform was supposed to be initially.
IMO, the only people who need blue checkmarks are businesses and public figures, so that people can't impersonate.
I think that last bit is the most important part.
If people can't impersonate from the git go, then there is no need for blue checkmate at all.
