Mike Rowe: Millions of Young Men Not Looking for Work in U.S. - Headline USA
(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) On Thursday’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” FOX Business host Mike Rowe talked about the problem that America faces right now – a growing number of able-bodied men who are not seeking a job, according to Fox News. He ...
Hard to get someone to work when he can't even pay the rent with his earnings.
Life is hard. It is just harder for stupid people. It's double hard for stupid and lazy people.
No one starts their first job and keeps it for life or retires after a decade. It's a ladder, but most blobs out there want the world, but not the work required to get it.
My first job at 12 was babysitting for a family with 6 children, the youngest was obviously quite a young baby...all for $.25 an hour. I am sure many others would have a similar story. To me I am amazed anyone would trust their kids to a 12 year old but that was a different time and a different place and speaks to the maturity of kids when we grew up.
I always read that babies are totally "me" centered (out of necessity) and one of the marks of growth or maturity was to be able to grow beyond that and focus on others. Sadly too many are stuck in the self-centered stage, even as adults, and have not matured as adults...essentially adult children.
12 year Olds of the distant past were more mature than most "adults" today
I understand this but, my dad use to tell me back in the 50s, a kid coming right out of HS could get a job at Ford Motor company. The wages weren't great but you could live on them. Now a days, most start up jobs pay so low that one can't live on it. My philosophy is simple. If one works 40 hour weeks then one should be able to live off those earnings. This is AMERICA not some 3rd world shit hole.
Rgr that. I wish it were like the ole days. 1 Breadwinner, and 1 Household and Kids, but that ship has sailed for many.
Understand this is by design. In order to destroy the nuclear family they needed to get Mom's out of the house. This doubled their tax revenue sure, but it was more so to make the kids more vulnerable to school influence. Basically raised by the state, aka indoctrination. Gain the youth, Gain the future.
Also you have tons of misinformed younger people voting for the very things that hurt them. They crave that high n mighty feeling of righteousness, but do not realize it's a trick and it is a costly mistake.
Winston Churchill once said, “any 20-year-old who isn’t a liberal doesn’t have a heart, and any 40-year-old who isn’t a conservative doesn’t have a brain.”
This is still true, but the age demos have risen dramatically. That is not by accident.
15-20 dollars an hour is not low! The cost of living is too high. But that shouldn't give anyone a pass to freeload off of their parents. The only thing that gives that pass is the parents. Soon the parents will be gone and another tent will be set up on Sunset Boulevard .
Remember, the kids today are distracted with the phone. A coworker said during training he expected the old guys not to know how to use the computer. But he is finding that the 20 year Olds don't know how to use a laptop. He was floored having to show them the basics. TBH, our young workers are retarded. I had to teach my 20 year old coworker how to use a screwdriver. I am serious he did not know what direction to turn to screw the hardware down.
The summer before I went off to college I had a full-time job in a tax assessor's office, a night job cleaning offices and a weekend job. Granted I was so tired I sometimes fell asleep at the day job, so it really wasn't doable long term, but the point is that people do what they need to do, and I am not sure it ends at 40 hours.
No you're missing the point and that point is they can't do what needs to be done because their is NO opportunity to do that. There is a growing movement in China called "Let it rot" that trend is here in the U.S.A, whether you like it or not, and the only way to combat this soul destroying philosophy is not pep talks or accusations of laziness or debates but, REAL incentives with REAL attainable objectives of a better life.
Well, most people think living includes not just food and rent but expensive cell phones and TVs with subscription and new cars, eating out, entertainment, etc. The younger generation has lost the ability to distinguish the difference between necessity and wants.
Seriously get real. Have you ever seen what a one bedroom apartment costs? Virginia average https://www.apartmentlist.com/renter-life/cost-of-living-in-virginia Now add in the bare necessities and what do you have left? One can't even buy a junk car because everything that has to be paid just to own one. The fact of the matter is that I believe a lot of these young men had a job paying shit wages and when all is added up they saw it was pointless. This is a problem that needs to be addressed not by some government decree minimum wage hikes but by supporting rational policies that encourage growth rather than stem it. This will lead to an abundance of jobs thereby forcing employees to offer more. It is as simple as that. All one has to do is look at the aftermath of the black death. I have a list of sane policies that would result in more jobs with higher wages across the board.
...how is one going to pay the rent if one doesn't work?
Can't pay either way. So what's the point?
This is confirmed in my area. It was going on before chivi, but definitely way worse now.
I travel and deal with small businesses a bit and labor shortage is a legit epidemic. Hiring signs everywhere all of the time.
Anytime I experience a problem with a business they often echo the same thing. " We cannot find help ".
They can't all be surviving in mommy's basement. Other than living off of the gubment I don't see how they do it. To not want anything out of life that you won't work for anything is kinda crazy. Even basic survival requires it.
The employers I speak to ( blue collar and white collar ) say they not only can't get people to interviews, even if they hire someone they have to let them go, because they either don't show up or won't actually work.
I know schools have been pushing anti-capitalism, pro communism, work is for whitey, etc. but still pretty shocking to see it first hand. Many literally do not even think of tomorrow. They deal with everything just day by day. It's like they are incapable of thinking ahead in any capacity. Weird af.
...I honestly believe part of it is genetic...
...chemically induced/manipulated through the food/water supply...
I do not doubt that 1 damn bit, but the schools and parents that want to be cool and friends with their kids, instead of doing real parenting like adults do, are also to blame.
Another issue employers speak of is these little candy asses wanting a journeyman's wage at an apprentice position, when they know absolutely nothing - not even common sense. Concerned for the future, we already have too many soy boys in positions that make them dangerous.
Hear, HEAR!!!
I agree...and social engineering.
Hiring people is tough, most are either retarded and stoned or just don't even want to try.
I really like Mike Rowe...a very down to earth, outspoken patriot. I wonder how we would reverse this trend because it certainly seems like it speaks to a direction that America seems to be taking. The younger generation is VERY different than the older generation...and sadly, this is just one aspect of the problem.
...we were taught to work...
...I can remember countless times of "holding the flashlight" for dad...
...little did I know, I was actually going to school....
Yep and back then when one worked he could live on it....not so much now
...again, how does one survive without a livelihood?
The work environment now? Eating from what's in a dumpster I suppose. I worked at a heat treat facility for 2 years, 7 days a week with 1 day off a month, only to lose my job because the company moved to Mexico. Even working that many hours I would break even after the bills were paid. That was awhile back. Today any young buck getting into the workforce, even working the hours I did, wouldn't be able to even pay his rent for a shitty apartment. There shouldn't be any mystery of why many just gave up and don't want to work. The Chinese call it "let it rot"
But so much of that reality seems "long ago and far away ". I am sorry but the world as it exists today seems very alien to me on so many levels. I feel like I don't understand most of what I see around me. It is unsettling to a certain degree because I understand the benefit of progress, but maybe life should be based on certain principles that don't change with time...something akin to The Ten Commandments for the foundation of the moral code in a society. We have changed and lost so much in the process.

...it stops for all of us one day...
I went to bed tired and a tad bit depressed and now after I woke up I am just a tad bit depressed. Things are just crazier than I would like them to be.

These men have been lied to their entire lives, and they know it. ..... a lot of them should have learned a good trade, good money and a lot of fun at work.
Yeap, university was the biggest waste of time and money. I tell all the kids, get into trades, get life skills. Although my degree did teach me how unfortunately sick some in society are....it just hasn't changed with time like liberals believe because of "ethics" class.
These young men can go to these jobs but advancement will be limited. Unless they are trannie, some favored minority or VERY gay.
No honest work is beneath the dignity of a man. Not working is beneath his dignity.
So what do they DO all day?? At least they could volunteer their time and labor if they don't fit into the labor market . . . One must use the mind and the body to some positive purpose . . .
...I concur completely....
