I could never understand it. The very next day after Thanksgiving, which marks an almost religious event whereby colonists realized that they would not survive the winter without gifts from their Indian neighbors, that contrasts with the hedonistic frenzy of buying stuff in a canibalistic ritual - me, me, me.
It has cabal overtones that match the Christmas/Xmas thing that happened - eliminating Christ from Christmas, and making it all about the gifts under the tree, bought during the Black Friday (Why name it that? - the story is that that was when businesses went into the 'black' from being in the 'red', but it feels like there is another meaning).
Anyway, who wants to go and partake of it? Not me. When I see 'Black Friday sale' I steer away from it, even online.
I was expecting a body count TBH. Normally Black Friday doesn’t pass by without reports of at least multiple fatalities.
So many places though have started several week long “Black Friday” esc deals. Not to mention the rise of online shopping. Kicking the shit outta each other the day after thanksgiving for bargains was more or less rendered pointless.
Folks spending all their disposable income on food, rising healthcare costs, increased rent, property taxes hikes due to exploding valuations, inflated groceries and energy costs etc - there’s nothing left…..and worse yet the spending happening is going on credit cards. Look up the ever expanding credit card debt in America for past 6-8 quarters.!
Is that why the big big bg push this year in oz? It was mad advertising, yet the problem is its actually really disrespectful if peeps remember their recent history. Black Friday here was a massive bushfire with many killed
Good. Let's put an end to the madness that is Black Friday

Did they expect more after broadcasting people couldn't afford a family Thanksgiving dinner?
Lockdowns and mask nazis taught people how to forage better. Black Friday is ridiculous anyway.
There is NO extra $ in regular folks budgets after months of increased gas and grocery costs. It's getting scary.
Watch the stock market tank this week.

Goodbye middle class….this is planned.
