Why the fuck is any state device using ANY social media? Only 1 landline computer per department that posts calendar items on TS and twitter, which is moderated by a committee of people. Audited weekly and fully transparent. How hard is it?
Why the fuck is any state device using ANY social media?
They're not. This is just red meat to the base to drum up support and generate headlines like the one for this post, which doesn't even mention that it's only for state-owned devices. Big yawn.
For one, military recruiters use social media on their Govt issued phones and computers because it is what the kids use and only way to engage with potential recruits where they hang out (socially). Same with Govt depts/orgs who want to have a social media presence.
This is a great and all but it doesn't tackle the root problem.
We need Linux based phones with root level access NOW!
In some cases we pay over $1000 for a phone (shouldn't be called a phone - should be called a personal computer) and we don't even have "root" control.
With root control we can could see what these applications are really doing and if need-be neuter them ourselves.
i looked into the Pine Phone. Although it's not quite ready for public consumption, I've got enough linux and techie experience to be able to put workarounds into action if need be. I may snag one anyway, as the price is right.
The name of this phone/project always reminds me of the pine email client.
You're right: the price is right. I might just have to pull the trigger and take that leap. I just worry that it won't work with US carriers. Let me know if you get it and how you like it.
I have never cared for ticktock... It is the crack of the mee-too! Crowd. Some goid people use it but I always view those videos like your granny held a trashy newspaper...
That's real progress. Finally! Now ban foreign entities owning American land.
Yes please. No foreigners should be allowed to own any property in this country.
Sounds extreme.
Until you learn Americans cannot own land in Mexico.
Thanks for teaching me that, King of the Hill.
EDIT: Not sure why this was being downvoted. I was calling it a good idea.
She did. She's on a roll.
She banned foreigners from owning land?

Yea, this isn't really a ban of tik tok, it's a ban of a social media app on state devices. Every corporation should have a similar restriction.

you would be wrong; there ARE state devices using such apps

I'm very close to getting one of these: https://puri.sm/products/librem-5-usa/

Will do. Post saved for future correspondence.
That is surprising but good news.

Wise Stewardship.
Are they going to ban Israeli apps too? They're a top intelligence adversary and their efforts aren't in our favor.
