What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Not exactly Santa, but in OK you could get a motorcycle license at 14. While of course I dreamed of sportbikes (in the 80s things like the Ninja* were just showing up) which wasn't going to happen (good thing of course), my mom's brother had a messed up leg from a car hitting him riding on the back of a friend's bike so it was a non-starter.
Soooo after galactic amounts of pleading, for my 14th birthday I ended up with... a moped. Specifically, a "Yamahopper" which was actually a no-ped. It topped out at 25 (30 if I took off the muffler which killed back pressure/what little acceleration it had) which meant neighborhood kids on dirt bikes and 4-wheelers (we lived in the sort of country suburbs) would outrun dogs chasing us while I wheezed along kicking at them.
*The original Kawasaki 900 Ninja (featured in Top Gun) and Honda Interceptor were revolutionary in terms of stepping up to bringing real race-bike tech/geometry/size/handling to the street - previously the developing sportbike class followed the "Superbike" mold, and the Ninja in fact introduced the now-ubiquitous aircraft-style fuel filler.
Dang, yeah, easy to get creamed from behind by any kind of normal traffic.
