There is always a strong possibility. Wish mine was still around to ask. May this day bring you comfort, honor, and appreciation for what our and other family members sacrificed.
Long live our soldiers! Indeed. My grand Uncle Jack survived by jumping off a bombed ship and swimming to shore. He was a very strong swimmer after many years of swimming in the Delaware.
I had two Uncles there that day. One was Army Air Force at Hickem Field. He never got into the air.
The other was Navy on an oil tender servicing battleships on Battleship Row as the bombs fell. He was thrown into the water and swam to shore.
A third Uncle, a Catholic Priest, was a major in a unit that invaded North Africa and then a Colonel when his unit invaded Sicily. I attended his funeral in Cleveland Ohio in the 80s. At the time of his death, he was a Monseigneur. His funeral was attended by Cardinals, Bishops and Generals.
My Grandpa was a Pearl Harbor Survivor too. I wonder if they knew each other.

Thank you
Oh my goodness- my grandpa too!! Obviously he survived but many surrounding him did not. He couldn’t talk about it until he was on his death bed…

Amazing to hear that and what a huge family sacrifice made for our country. Thank you!
