Will Shortz is the creator of the NYT crossword puzzle and I only know that because he is my favorite sudoku creator. I also believe he works with Jeopardy in some capacity. I read up on him and I do not think he fits the profile of any Nazi sympathizer so if this is true I would not believe it has anything to do with where his sympathies lay. He really is all about the puzzles.
