I don't see how people could vote on things themselves. I don't want to spend my time studying legislation. And nobody I know would be interested in doing that either.

And so people would be voting on things that they don't know anything about, based on popularity only.

For example, most tv commercials for products do not talk about the product at all. They just have some cute animal or script that gives you the feels.

We really don't need many laws and they don't need to be complicated. Lawyers made this mess.

I agree that lawyers have been a wildly destructive force in our society, but I disagree that laws can be simple into today's complex society.
