Purely " accidental. " The manufacturer is completely baffled as to what may have caused that. ( as a side note, doctors are baffled as well in regards to all this, " sudden death " which inexplicably seems to be occurring. Very, very baffling. )
Me either I’ve never had any smart stuff in my house until recently, I bought all new appliances and when I got the insurance for them , (I’m a single woman I’m so tired of calling Appliance guys ) I mentioned how my last dish washer only a few years old , broke and needed service several times, the guy said , “ what’s great is the technician will know what’s wrong before they come out and this way able to bring the part they need ! WHAT ? HOW ?
It’s WiFi lady they can go into your dishwasher without being in your house. I said , No I don’t want that one then , I want a dishwasher that doesn’t have that feature, he said looking at me like “why wouldn’t u want this great technology”
They are SMART all new appliances are ! So it was either go home and buy all used appliances and go through the whole situation with the breaking down or buy smart , which I did but not happy !
We sound alike. I was raised by older parent being I was adopted so was raised old school. My parents were closer to grand parents age. I lost both of them already. My Mom has been gone for years and my Dad died in the end of December 2019 2 weeks before his 95 Birthday. I believe the Covid got him. He was always as strong as an ox. And then just suddenly went down hill. My parents were part of the Greatest Generation, and a part of me is glad they are not here now , because they would be so disappointed in our country today.
My heart is heavy reading your comment ! What beautiful loving parents you had ,, who actually wanted you .. and what a blessing that you had the privledge of being raised old school , by old fashion ( for not a better word ) people who gave you a strong loving normal foundation ! I’m so sorry you lost them both , so happy your dad lived to nearly 95 , but yes could of had a few was more years no doubt ! Heaven, thank God for heaven. What part of the country do you live! Yes , sad I’m in CA … hard to pack up and leave esp. alone , and with special needs daughter … not easy , and yes from another post. I believe the blessed wife’s handle is pebbles ? She and her husband have the relationship thst God designed , I love hearing about wives who are kind and loving to their guy !
I Live in North Texas. And I do consider myself very lucky in a lot of ways. I do believe one of Americas biggest problem is We as a country have push God out in so many ways. I feel for you being in Cali especially as crazy as it has gotten there. It is such a shame because that use to be the place to be along time ago. And I feel for you also having a special needs child. Does the Father help out in anyway?
No , I raised my children alone! It’s been raining like crazy crazy here , I have a 4 o’clock appt soord later , thank u for the heartfelt sentiments !
It’s called a “firewall”. It can be configured to not allow devices access to the Internet. You can also usually disable the wireless access in the apppliance.
What can you say when the response you get to why you refuse to 'conform' to being tracked by 'Smart' devices is "Yes but it's so nice to get home and have the heating on how you want it". As if thermostats and timers never existed.
Yeah I don't even use most of the programmable features on my standard thermostat as I found no cost savings in letting the house cool down and trying to warm it back up before getting home from work plus that only can make sense if everyone leaves and comes home at the same times. Just maintaining a steady temp 24 hours always turned out to be cheaper. It only makes sense if we're away for more than a couple days and the pets are with a sitter.
Alexas have radio transmitters/receivers in them that communicate with your IOT devices and also form a mesh network with your neighbors. The most nefarious thing about this is that these radio transmitters/recievers were inside older Alexas for something like 2 years before it was advertised as a new feature on newer models
It's funny, as far as I can recall the ONLY times i remember seeing the word "back door" have been in news articles (about big tech) saying how the GOVERNMENT --- WANTS AND NEEDS backdoor access.
So as far as I'm concerned these [obviously] have been installed forever on these devices. Though anyone dumb enough to think that a company like Google or Facebook would be allowed to operate within a country's borders with the massive amount of information they have....WITHOUT government intervention is a crazy dumbass thought.
I have exactly 1 google home. It's located in my bathroom so I can listen to music while taking a shower. If they want to listen in while I'm sittin on the pot taking a shit, that's on them!!!
I have this great technology that cannot be used for spying on me but provides me almost all the information I need. Its data does not get corrupted. It is made of paper enclosed in a cardboard and cloth covering and is called a "book."
Also, I found out that I can communicate with people without any digital surveillance. I just talk to them in person through the air! Wow!

"Baffled" people just stand in the way of finding the truth.
The next model accidentally shoots injection darts.
Calls the feds in for wrong speech.
I am not the least surprised. I have never trusted smart devices when it comes to privacy
