Hungary addresses falling birthrates by exempting moms under 30 from income tax for life
Hungary is one of many countries facing a falling birthrate that will lead to catastrophic societal breakdowns in the next few decades, but it's one of the few that's doing something to turn the trend around.
Doesn't that mainly incentivize working moms? Better would be exempting the dad if living with the mom.
Exactly… this is terrible policy.
This doesn't stop marriage, a married couple would see their income taxes halved if they play their cards right, for example if they had a partnership business - it just incentivizes young women to plan for a baby before they turn 30. A much better idea than importing a bunch of immigrants from other countries.
…married and living with the mother.
This taxt exemption doesn't mean much money... It's enough or at least assists to cover the needs of a baby.
Hungary is awesome
Maybe Hungary doesn’t support SAHM families like our govt does. Nothing like planning your family around govt assistance.
