Layoffs Google 12000 Microsoft 10000 Amazon 18000

That's just three of the major firms. There are more across the industry. Not all are in the US. Banking is mixed with layoffs at Goldman and Morgan Stanley but status quo or even hiring at some others.

This should say a couple of things regarding labor and immigration. First, if you are in the US on an H1B visa, you need to leave - you were brought in for a specific job and if that job is gone, you must leave. Second, If you are a company who has laid off workers, you should receive NO allocation of h1B moving forward. Allocations of H1Bs across the industry should be cut because we see that labor is available, even if not at the lower wages of imported labor.

Oh, and I guess telling the released "journalists" to learn to code won't work out real well....too bad.
