Yesterday morning I went out early with the dogs. The sky was covered from East to West in trails all in a fan shape. They were the worst I'd ever seen . Went back to bed and couldn't sleep I was so pissed off. I was surprised when we ended up with a clear sky later in the day.
So many variables... Where do you live? Nearest airports and bases? Every time there's a military event I see clusters of 4-6 that seem to originate from the same points northeast, northwest, and southwest,, then fan out, I presume they are fighters from Nevada, Yuma, and ? They fly high and leave a thin trail like the top one in your picture. The trails persist for hours, usually, and are pretty wide and fluffy by the time they disappear. Also, what's the weather like? The atmosphere has moving layers which affect the speed of dissipation, and the temperature affects the spread. We are in a pretty quiet, stable pocket, weather wise.
I was encouraged because I hadn't seen these in quite a while. However, I went outside last night, and there were two, parallel, massive ones, horizon to horizon. They're spraying at night! I went back out a half hour later, and they were spreading and settling towards the ground.
They weren't normal during my childhood. They apparently are now though...
