I normally don’t bring up the subject of “the vaccine”, but while talking to a older female neighbor 78 years old, we were talking about her health. I had mentioned vitamins, quercetin, zinc … the normal stuff having a good conversation exchanging ideas … I said “did you get the vaccine”? Immediately her body language changed to one of defense and she said “I’m not gonna talk about that” and started to back away and leave. She got real defensive and mentioned she had gotten all the shots. I tried to change the subject but the damage was done. Her smiling face turned to one of frowns and the sweet lady turned into something that just a few seconds earlier was just a real nice sweet old lady out for a walk. I was like Really !!?? I think she probably had been quizzed and asked about the vaxx before…

Perhaps, in the future rather than asking a question most older people were raised to believe is profoundly rude and none of anyone's business, ie "did you get the vaccine?" figure out WHY you asked that question.
If, after reflection, the reasons seem noble, perhaps figure out a more effective way to get that info or achieve those noble goals.
Right now, getting people to open up and talk WITH you often requires the same patience and skills needed to tame feral animals enough to let you touch them.
I appreciate the thought. I’ll keep that in mind. However her response was not like that’s my private business but like she been down that road before and had a bad experience with others.
