It's an iffy thing. The ZAMU-PF, being socialist, has been antipathetic to the U.S. for a long time. Neighboring Zambia, however, continues to play footsie with importuning Americans (lots of emissaries showing up in the last few weeks) who want mineral concessions for the price of kickbacks to the appropriate ministers and bureaucrats, in order to obtain "investment" (a euphemism for foreign aid). A recent letter of understanding was recently signed among Zambia, the DR Congo, and the USA, concerning cobalt and lithium mining and production development. The Zambian PF party is also vile socialist, but never lets ideology get in the way of a good venue of corruption. The ruling UPND party is suffering the pangs of buyer's remorse, as President Hakainde Hichilema rules in an aloof and unapproachable manner, seemingly blind to the corruption in his own administration.
