There’s this drug Wegovy used for weight lost. It’s an injection. It works. Yesterday daughter, who pays out of pocket for it, was in with her Doctor for a follow up appt discussing her progress with this drug and conversation turned to how expensive it was, and how it’s hard to get insurance coverage for it. (Only certain insurance will pay for it and only when a person is substantially overweight.) The doctor told her drug was expensive because the medical industry doesn’t want people being able to afford it and losing weight as there is more profit in over weight, unhealthy people.

I went for a checkup last week with my doctor that I have had for way over 25 years and even though he masked and vaxxed...I never did...but he did ask me to vax even though he knew the answer...he gives me lots of freedom and leeway on my alternative stuff...
But we got to talking about how much paper work there is on me because I am on medicare and I was pretty shocked at what he was telling me...schedules for everything...requirements if you will...I really imagine all my bloodwork (including blood type) is in a government database. He said when that's what you get when you are on medicare...they are SO interesed in my health and well-being...haha. He never asked about guns...but I could see how that could be part of the info...
The Aetna supplement keeps pushing for home visits and I tried it once but found I had no need of it. But they keep calling me and they have supposedly made a note at least 10 times that I am not interested. So annoying. Just to be mean at the one visit I tried..the lady asked what supplements I take so I had her list about 25 different supplements (which I do take)...very tedious but served her right...
I get it, they wouldn’t renew the only prescription medication I take because I’m supposedly ‘required’ to get a physical every year. I made an appt, got my prescription renewed and promptly cancelled the appt. Hahahah.
I sort of enjoy the physical...the bloodwork really...especially vitamin D testing...just gives me good input to my health...my dad died of Alzheimer's and I want to keep stuff like that at bay....
I agree. I do enjoy the bloodwork as I use it to see how well my supplements are working. I will probably eventually bare the physical to get the bloodwork.
FYI, You don't need a doctor acting as gatekeeper to get quality blood tests. Try Health One Labs. I get a yearly blood test for men. No Dr/ appt/ required and you can follow-up whenever you want. You have to pay out of pocket and use the internet to interpret the results. (or a nurse friend) Been doing it for 15 years and have a history to check against. https://healthonelabs.com/test/mens-health-value-package-plus/ I use the same lab as the doctors use.
