The IRS also expects people to claim income if they are illegal. I found this out when I was a tax accountant many years ago. It was quite the shocker.
As it turns out, it is trivial for an illegal immigrant to get an illegal social security number to pay taxes with, and as long as they pay taxes, they will never be deported. There is a whole legal system in place to get these illegal SSN's (this is in CA, I don't know about other states). You can use your illegal SSN to buy land, start a business, get a drivers license, etc. I never thought about it at the time, but you can probably use it to vote as well. Hell, you'll probably get your voter packet by mail, just like everyone else.
While it was a while ago, this was post 911 that I found out about it. I knew that the whole 911 thing was full of bullshit. I knew the IRS was total bullshit, I knew our tax laws were total bullshit (though I didn't know at the time that there was a difference between tax law and IRS code). Despite recognizing tons of bullshit in the system, I still never "got it." I thought it was just organic corruption. It never occurred to me that it could be systemic, because of course, that's impossible.
The Grand Illusion controls everyone, and you are allowed to be a part of America's version of the Grand Illusion as long as you pay your taxes.
They are supposed to have an SSN or green card to even work, but the government gave them a way to apy regardless. It is called Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). They can use it to file their taxes, and they have been sucking in returns on dependents that never existed for a long time now. There were some folks blowing the whistle on that crap, and absolutely nothing was done about it. An American citizen cheats on their taxes and they try to take everything they have and haul them off to jail. An illegal cheats on their taxes, and they look the other way.
Sadly, Musk thinks rich people shouldn't dodge taxes; I say every opportunity one has to NOT contribute to the damn government/deep state/funding our own destruction should be taken.
