There are parts of Iraq that are STILL contaminated from the heavy use of depleted uranium (DU) by US tanks and artillery in the Iraqi war. I doubt Russia will tolerate this, and rightfully so. DU rounds (being highly pyrophoric) burst into intense hot flame and shrapnel when they hit their targets, and all of that effluvium and debris is radioactively contaminated.
From what I can recall, Russia have previously said that any provocation like this (also including the use of a 'dirty bomb') will be treated as a first strike against the Federation and they will respond in accordance with their nuclear doctrine. Goodnight Vienna.
"Britain's plans to supply Kiev with depleted uranium shells show that London is prepared to take not just risks, but also war crimes.
There is no doubt that this will end badly for London".
Bloody hell - I live within mushroom cloud radius of London!
Sergey Lavrov 2:
"They have already lost bearing on their actions, those Anglo-Saxons want to maintain hegemony over the world, they are ready to take more risks, break international law and commit crimes against humanity".
I have thought about this. The tanks will cross the border from Poland, not Romania. the Romanian route is awkward, because of Transnistria blocking the way (Also. they can't airlift them in, because the planes will get shot out of the sky). So far, the Russians have waited until materiel showed up at the battlefront before destroying it. If they won't want DU in Eastern Ukraine (now Russia), they have the opportunity to destroy those munitions in Western Ukraine.
If the fallout poisons Western Ukrainians, it is still a disaster, but those lands are not as fertile, i.e. growing food for the rest of the world. Also, there is the possibility of troops stationed in Belarus, crossing the border into Western Ukraine, cutting off that supply route. the railway is only just over that border. This way, those tanks can just stay in Poland. the latter option is the least poisonous, but more challenging militarily, because the Ukrainians have mined the lands just South of the Belarus border.
Maybe the Russians, if they really had to hit the DU material at all, would prefer to hit it all at once or much at once to reduce the number of contaminated sites, even if they are away from arable land. I think they'll avoid burning it altogether unless they have to or perhaps they get an opportunity over the sea.
Who will hold the perpetrators accountable? The ICC is a USA puppet set up to go after Africans, MiddleEasterners and other fuzzywuzzies, not Anglos. So, they declared Gaddafi a war-criminal, but not Blair & Bush.

US probably doesn't want to have the depleted uranium conversation. Our hands are very dirty in that regard

Yes, it's further down in the article (linked here).
Thanks fren. I only read the headline as I was absolutely furious!
Putin:
"The West decided to fight with Russia to the last Ukrainian, not in words, but in deeds.
If the UK supplies depleted uranium shells to Ukraine, Russia will be forced to react."

I think Russia will be more selective than just destroying cities.

Bit like the fraudulent 2020 election.
Does it matter WHO stands against Biden in 2024? - unfortunately, the result is a foregone conclusion.

Russia won't take this lying down. UK is making a monumental mistake, and they're going to get a bloody nose from this.

I wonder if this is the cargo that the archaic antonovs keep flying in and out of Liverpool Airport.
Not far from Sellafield where they process all the nuclear waste .
"process"
I wonder if the Brits will enjoy their cities bombed with deleted uranium?
The problem for me, my family and friends, will be that the uranium WON'T be depleted.
Total insanity.
