I don't think Congress can prevent commercial banks from enacting a CBDC policy. My bank (which I'm ready to ditch, btw) is going to "investigate" and small trial run with digital currency later this year, and I've put my branch on notice that if it goes forward, I am prepared to close my account and move it to a local credit union.
CBDC is loss of privacy that is guaranteed. Someone will access every purchase, every tip you leave for a waiter or waitress, amount of money you give to your church, purchases that you really don’t want made public, gold purchases, gun purchases, porn, food, donations to your favorite Presidential candidate, etc. We reject that concept. Think! Let your representative know why you don’t want it.
