I think if you're unaware at this point, you are just retarded.
Brainwashing doesn't make someone stupid (decrease their brains capacity for reason), it restricts the options for the direction of thought.
Cognitive dissonance comes from seeing evidence that is contrary to our beliefs. When we experience cognitive dissonance (a discordance of two beliefs, pieces of evidence, or mix and match) it must be resolved before we can move forward. The three possible resolutions to cognitive dissonance are:
Ignore the evidence
Change the evidence to fit your beliefs
Change your belief to encompass the new evidence without changing it.
Brainwashing is an exploitation of the resolutions to cognitive dissonance. We have been trained to preferentially select the first two. It is teaching people that it is possible to select the third, and how to do that, that is the program that is currently running, through an inundation of so much evidence that the threshold is overcome, and neither 1, nor 2 can be reasonably selected. This program is an appeal to intelligence OVER the brainwashing. The intelligence is there, but so is the brainwashing.
Many people have, due to current events, at least learned that there is a third option to cognitive dissonance. The more invested you are in your beliefs that are contrary to the evidence however, the less likely you are to select 3, no matter what the evidence is. Countering this brainwashing, and these core beliefs is a non-trivial endeavor because its not about intelligence, but about cognitive dissonance and training; brainwashing.
We'll have to agree to disagree. Critical thinking is a sign of intellect; no matter how educated these people are, that's not intellect if they can't think critically.
I do agree that we have to counter the brainwashing, but I fully believe that -- especially by the medical definition of the word -- the people who can't see it are specifically retarded. I'm not talking about the people who feel helpless and go on in spite of knowing without digging further, but the people who simply can't under any circumstances see what is going on, and reject it no matter how much is set in front of them and no matter how many crumbs is laid for them.
It has been extremely obvious for decades that things are not right in the world. Even when I did nothing but sit and play games as a kid, you start to take notice through the way events go that there is more going on than what it seems.
If people can't even understand that, or won't even dig further than the nearest "fact check", then I personally don't see it as being anything but an intelligence issue.
