All who are left is Satan and his fallen angels. (This is how they are locked in prison for 1000 years) there is no one left to tempt and no one left to destroy. It is an abyss of punishment for them. At the end of 1000 years, Jesus comes back to earth along with all of us as he transports the entire city of New Jerusalem down to earth. At this time all the remaining dead are raised. They see the errors of their ways. Satan builds an army of them all to wage war against Jesus. They are stopped by his overwhelming power. They are forced by logic to bow to Him. (Every knee shall bow) They are judged and executed each according to their life. Some are burned up instantly with no suffering while others have much more anguish and pain. In the end all who did not believe on The Son Of God perish. There is no Hell. It's not biblical. Satan. And his demons are destroyed at this time as well. Jesus destroyes the entire Earth with fire and rebuilds it again. This time without the agony of sin that even our planet today suffers from. We are truly free now. We can live both on the new earth and in Heaven. We can now live with pure hearts and lives before the almighty God and His Beloved only Son.
This is what believers understood for hundreds of years. Satan has corrupted our churches. This is only one example, I could go on.
Eh there are some pretty literal references to "the lake of fire". And "the smoke of their torment goes up for ever". So unless you want to throw those verses out entirely i would say conventional belief in hell is not unfounded

Scripture never contradicts itself. If it does, there has to be another interpretation backed up somewhere else in scripture. Remember the church as a whole has been corrupted from their doctrine, structure to the pulpit. For instance, find any reference in scripture to God being a 3 part God or "Trinity" these nothing. It's the Father and his only begotten son. The spirit is that of Jesus. Why was the trinity introduced? To eliminate the power and authority of Jesus by introducing an entirely new God. One that Paul or the deciples never acknowledged. Spiritual battles have been at play a very long time. The deception goes deeper than we realize. To the point of having the entire church worship a god that does not exist. This type of deception is Satan's specialty, we never know we're being deceived until it's too late.
There are a few other events that need to occur before the Millennial Kingdom of Christ:
1) First, the 7yr Tribulation needs to occur. The Time of Jacob's Trouble.

The sealing of 144,000 Jewish believers (Revelation 7:1-8)
The 4 Horsemen

The rise of Babylon the Great, a false religious system that will deceive many (Revelation 17-18)
The Battle of Armageddon, in which the forces of the Antichrist will gather against Israel, only to be defeated by the returning Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:11-21)
The binding of Satan and the reign of Christ on earth for 1,000 years starts (Revelation 20:1-6)
2) The 3rd Temple needs to be erected either before or during the Tribulation so the Antichrists can exalt himself in it at the middle point of the Tribulation, declaring himself to be God. (Edit: This Temple is ready to go, by the way.)
3) Pre-Trib Rapture or Mid-Trib Rapture or Post-Trib Rapture needs to occur. If it's Post-Trib, then the Rapture happens at the same time of Christs return to Earth on the Mount of Olives to destroy the armies of the World who have mounted up against Israel.

Given human nature, it's far more likely that there is an element of power sharing, agreement and at least at times, strife. There's no simple org chart that can define this structure.

Regardless, if this was as easy as getting five heads of families in a dungeon, this battle would have been won long ago.
