I just requalified at the range as a retired deputy a few days ago. 105 degrees in the shade and humid as balls on a typical Texas day. I passed with flying colors but it was the worst groupings I have ever had. During the off hand sequences, I was on target but all over the place. That was under only limited stress.
Doing it for real…I’ll tell you this, shooting under pressure is no joke. His vest, coupled with the humid Texas heat, gear weighing him down, & having to engage a shooter at distance while being responsible for every round he fires is a heavy burden. He has no idea if the gunman is alone or if someone else is gonna pop out at any second. He also has a split second to determine he is engaging the actual shooter and not a helpful citizen. Job well done.
