Rule #1 of science is that science is NEVER settled!

Isaac Newton was working on gravity back in the 1600s and it is still not settled. Einstin's revamp of gravity was over a century ago and they are still working on it.

Also, contrary to popular belief, scientists are not always right or even truthful. When Alfreg Wegener came up with the idea of continental drift the establishment scientists refused to believe it for several decades. Poor Wegener had died before his idea was accepted by "the consensus".
