FedNow is not a CBDC, it is an instantaneous monetary transaction system.

I think it's more of a way to stay competitive. Bankers have always been against instant transactions, because they "earn" interest in the three days it currently takes. It's only the advent of BRICS which is offering such transactions that is forcing their hand.
