I recently saw an article that 1/3 of McDonald's franchise owners are about to file bankruptcy. This should wipe out all the rest in California that weren't already in trouble.
My daughter was getting paid $13 an hour (that's after 2 raises) as a baker until she quit and started school to learn a trade. Still in school and just got a new job (new business getting ready to open) with something in the field of what she's going to school for, for starting pay at $11 an hour.
And in California they want $20 an hour for minimum wage work?

Probably more like California is so damn expensive to live in. The wagies are wanting more cash.
Even though them wanting more cash is helping contribute to California being too damn expensive to live in. It’s a vicious cycle of stupid.
That largely originates in a handful of heavily populated Costal Counties. And Silicon Valley tech companies. Which just so happens to drag the rest of the state into the abyss.
That's true, Cali is more expensive, but prices have been on the rise everywhere. Groceries have pretty much doubled, along with gas, rent, utilities and other items. You can't live on your own with such low pay here. Even with her living at home with us, our daughter can't afford gas at times, and we have to help her out. Praying that once she finishes school, she will be able to make better pay.
Government raises minimum wage because they get the first 20%. Lets face it, Grusome couldn't care less about that undereducated, indoctrinated fast food worker, but he knows he just gave himself a bigger portion of their minumum wage.
So someone starts working at a Quick and Pukey a year ago at $15, gets a couple of raises and now makes $17.50. That person will need to go to $22.50 to stay two and a half bucks ahead of the new people, or else why not quit and go work next door at Grease and Gurgle Burgers at the same $20?
A lot of people will be getting raises, not just the "minimum wage" people.
...incoming $10 Big Macs in 3...2...
I remember "Big Mac Mondays" 99 cents.
...wags tail sadly...
...those were halcyon days indeed...

Raising minimum wage --- is a failure of the currency.
Wow, pretty soon fast food workers will make more than medical residents training at the hospitals.
Fast food was never meant to be a career.
All former fast food restaurants are now slow.
In Alabama, you're lucky if you get a job paying over $11 an hour doing minimum wage work. Which the minimum wage for Alabama is $7.25 an hour...

A freaking orange is $1 now. $1 per orange!! Gas is $5 here in Arizona!
What the heck is happening?
Biden happened
plus they push the "tip" envelope.
Now that value meal will be 20 instead of the 15 that it already was

California strives to have the highest cost of living in the world. Lunch around my bay area office is now $20-$30 easy.
It's the end of the cheeseburger as we know it.
