American Shipbuilding has been declining for a years. Over regulation and non-competitiveness combined with the decline of Domestic Industry. Particularly of the Heavy Industrial Variety. IE Steel and Metal processing. Further cratered demand.
It was front page news a year ago that they built and launched a New American made Great Lakes Freighter. First in probably close to 40-50 years. When in the industrial heyday. They were launching a couple every few months. To keep up with both demand and replacing losses due to the at times treacherous weather of the Lakes.
Not to mention the Navy slashed its size. And despite noise to the contrary. Doesn’t appear to be taking many steps towards actually increasing the size of the Navy. If anything it’s actually shrinking.
China's military equipment is a joke in terms of quality. Their first aircraft carrier had an engine failure as soon as it left port. And their shipbuilding capacity is only good because they have a billion slaves.
After watching what missiles and drones are doing in Ukraine, I really believe the days of big naval ships are over. The Russians are having difficulty protecting their fleet vessels against aquatic drones and cruise missiles. Naval ships today are more of a sitting duck than ever. For over 40 years I predicted that modernized versions of PT style 'devil' boats would replace DDGs and CGs. What happened? The answer really coincides with all of the other monstrous mistakes the military has been making over a course of 40 years. An enemy force has taken hold of our military industrial complex and has been deconstructing our military. We have no hypersonic missiles. Even Iran and India has them now. The F-35 can't fly with any dependability. It's one boondoggle after another.
This country's military can't fight a real war. We've donated ammo and systems to the money laundering Ukraine operation that can't be replaced if needed by a supply chain that can't be ramped up. F-35? A committee designed money sink that can't fulfill any of the roles it's designed for. Abrams tanks that are a generation old, run on gas turbine engines that put out so much heat they're visible from space, consume as much fuel idling as when moving - so have an eight hour limit before they turn into battle field pump me's. A navy of useless littoral ships that even the navy is getting rid of, and CV battlegroups that'll have their defenses saturated by ICBM's of all types and ranges soon after hostilities commence. And there's nothing they can do to stop it.
The only thing that is stopping this country from being invaded - not counting the literally millions of fighting age men streaming across our southern border - is the fact that the average civilian here has more guns and ammo per capita than most of the wannabe conquering nation's armies that would see us all slaughtered.
Our Trump card; however, is the fact that if our traitorous government somehow managed to engineer a capitulation to aforesaid other Globalist commie fascist regimes, said enemies would be left to deal with We The People. Does anyone think for one minute that if we were told to surrender to an occupying force, that Americans would just say "Oh well, hands up?" And if invaders ever took up arms against us on Conus they would face an enraged populace now unrestrained by a Quisling government. Some of us wouldn't play nice. I don't think our government; or any of their cohorts, have really considered who we are.
As long as we can produce LRASM's and Mk48 torpedoes faster than they can make ships we're good. 3 million for a missile that can destroy a 3 billion dollar ship and take it down with all hands seems like a good trade. Even if it takes 10 missiles to do the job the cost/ benefit is good.
Do they break in 3 month like everything they make?

About Biden's "Build Back Better". How about:
Build Slower (BS)
Slower Speed (SS)
Slowest Slower Speed (S3)
Both SS and BS seems like a good fit for Biden? ;)

Why is anyone worried about cheap Chinese knock offs when all it takes is one E/A-18 Growler to cripple their battle groups?
