Just got diagnosed with laryngopharangeal reflux or LPR, silent reflux.
Doc wants to put me on PPIs briefly but i dont trust that class of meds.
Any thought or alternative? Looking at alginate containing antacid like Gaviscon

I've read a little about alkaline diets, and even tried it a few years ago but it was too difficult for me to maintain. I think you still might be able to manage some form of an alkaline diet with reflux, but you probably just have to be much more careful in your food and drink choices. Rather than choosing foods and drinks that are directly more alkaline themselves when they enter your stomach, aim for foods that are less alkaline in their natural form, but tend to cause the body to become more alkaline after they are digested and absorbed. I'm sure you can easily find a lot of information online to help you decide which foods to try. I believe there are a lot of health benefits to keeping your body in a slightly alkaline condition if you can manage it.
