What android phone are you getting for $100? ;) I'm a mobile app dev. I actually trust iOS over android as far as 3rd party access to data goes. It's still up the the users thought and most users just give apps what they ask for.
Also, you can get Android phones for free as part of your mobile plans, such as the Samsung A series, or the often discounted Motorola Moto G Plays, normally ~$170 and in fact right now $99 for the unlocked versions.
I would say where Apple truly shines is the ongoing tech support aspect though. I have recently been impressed on that front, though I doubt I will ever personally own one of their products due to the costs.
Also, where you could trip them up is the "same thing" part, because of course the primary competition for Apple is Samsung, at very similar price points for the flagships.
Apple devices tend to have nice screens (so do Samsung, but hit or miss every gen) which alone costs a pretty penny and a major advantage over those $100 phones, not even getting to performance.
It's like saying an RTX 4090 is the same thing as a GTX 970.
Their phones are not where Apple is really jacking up the costs, it's everywhere else in their sphere.
For me, the hoops I have to jump through to get user data from iOS devices is a lot more strenuous (in a good way) than with Android devices. And if you're jailbroken and loading APKs, good luck not having data leak to the dark web. Do I trust Apple or Google more with my personal data? About the same, leaning toward Apple.
But 3rd party access is a lot more locked down on the Apple sides of things IME.
true but they pay ten times what an android costs for the same thing trackers included

I would trust neither for data.
