A new bill advancing in Alabama says there are only two sexes - male and female - and that these can be defined based on the genitals people are born with.

Smarter: these two genders can be defined with a simple DNA test to detect XX or XY chromosomes

Gonads are reliable but less so than the XX or XY present in every cell of the body
