It just got corrected now. Misinfo on WP about deaths of living persons usually has a life much less than this case, 18 minutes. WP is always fun to watch.
Wikipedia is edited by everybody. What happened was that a "vandal" put incorrect information into the article and it remained uncorrected for 18 minutes (another vandal did the same but it only lasted 1 minute). It wasn't a joke to "cover", it was a joke to show off the gaffe briefly as if it were valid information until a Wikipedia "cop" comes along and corrects the record. This happens regularly and Wikipedia accepts it as the cost of free speech. The incorrect information doesn't remain visible in the main article (which is what you linked), only in the history (which is what I linked).

That was confusing

Huh? So is this a joke to cover for Joe's gaff?
The link above says a Lincoln Riley died in on Feb 24, 2024 from being murdered by an illegal from Venezuela.
Of course we know the college co-ed named Laken Riley was killed in Athens, GA on Feb 22, 2024 by an illegal also??
What are the odds?
But wait! A different Wikipedia page has the above Lincoln Riley alive and not dead. What is going on?
Where he is still alive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Riley
Where he is said to be dead: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lincoln_Riley&oldid=1212486977

I think because the Republicans shouted it out.
