I HATE MAC's.. I tell ALL the kiddies in the Tech world that I was 30 years old before I could afford my First Computer...and even then,,,it was 2,300 $. Ohhh..the Good ol days!!
I remember that I was not downloading very much back then. It took me over 20 minutes to download a megabyte!
Which reminds me, my first job was at a company in the UK that claimed to have the largest privately-owned computer in western Europe. Some years later one of their programmers told me that the operating system was so big that it required a megabyte to run!
My first computer was from Radio Shack, I think a Tandy? It had 256 MB rom! LOL True floppy discs and connected with a telephone line. Ah, the good "old" days.
Orwell might have predicted for 1984 was probably delayed due to the WHs, and we are getting there 40 years later, but the 80s turned out to be the best decade. Perfect balance between progress and values.
Would that be the 1880's after the American government failed for lack of a quorum and was taken over by a Military Junta never to go through "reconstruction" until now ?
Why does Abe's THRONE have fasces on it in his memorial?
I think the best Super Bowl commercial EVER goes to Budweiser for their "Tribute to 9/11" add featuring the Clydesdales. I still get chocked up every time I see it.

This was when Bud was still an American Company.
Orwell's book was published in 1949. If you had read it any time prior to 1984 you would have thought how futuristic the idea of flat screen TVs everywhere which could also watch and listen to your every word that must have seemed.
Now we take it for granted and even go out and buy equipment that we can carry round with us to extend that spying process!
1984 did not turn out to be like "1984", instead, 2024 turned out to be like "1984"

TI99-4A here. Sweet little machine. I still have it.
Oh wow! I wish I would have kept my first computer.
If only to rewind and go from there...knowing what we know...
Thanks for posting that fabulous Ridley Scott-directed Superbowl add preview of the first Macintosh.
Best freaking advertisement ever.
AND a stirring reminder of the libertarian spirit of the novel.
TIL Ridley Scottt directed the 1984 commercial. Didn’t his brother commit suicide by. Bridge?
Yes, that's the story, although the whole situation of Tony Scott's suicide seems very sketchy to me.

Wood rods with ax blade emerging- I learn so much from my frens here🐸
Fascism is not new.
Vatican created corporations to allow Kings to own land/churches while the church controlled them.
"Own nothing , control everything"

Ok but the young woman who is running and threw the sledge hammer at the screen was wearing an iPod; there were no iPods in 1984.
Or a Walkman. But I only see it in the still at the top, I dont see it in the actual commercial.
If you own apple products, you might be a faggot. Apple is the normie tech company.
I lived this as a child. Now I live this as a father.
That’s deep right there. T-shirt material even.
