'The U.S. Department of Justice has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple, targeting the Silicon Valley giant for its stranglehold over the iPhone ecosystem.
Bloomberg reports that the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has escalated its antitrust battle against major tech giants by filing a lawsuit against Apple, the world’s second-most-valuable technology company. The suit, filed by the DOJ and 16 attorneys general in a federal court in the District of New Jersey, alleges that Apple has violated antitrust laws by blocking rivals from accessing hardware and software features of its iPhone, among other abuses of monopoly power.'
I remember when Apple got caught putting a CIA spy chip in the phone without any Congressional authorization or oversight. People still buy them because they say they have better encryption. 🤣
Now there's the issue that other android users can't access the Apple features so they can connect with those holding those phones.
That is the least freedom of any handheld device and look what they charge! Haha
Has Apple not been staying the course?
Are they veering from the narrative?
Stay tuned!
This action does seem bizarre, looking forward to seeing some insight on this...
I thought it was bizarre too. Maybe Apple didn't grease enough demorats palms.
Reminds me of when the DOJ did similar to Microsoft in 1999. And as the Microsoft Antitrust case gained traction, the Dot Com boom came to a halt as tech companies laid off workers and companies sold their stock holdings. I wonder if we will see a repeat.
It'll definitely be a case to follow. The DOJ right now is not on America's side. So wtf are they up to?
Great point about not being on America's side. Maybe the case will cause side effects from the introduction of evidence during case discovery, where that evidence will later be unsealed and brought into the public view. It should be quite interesting.
Agree 👍
