Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
The report from the North, we are getting buried with this nor'easter, it was coming down last night so hard my dog was covered in less than a minute. So far there is a foot out there. We are forecast for 2 feet. !!!!!! I have filled water and buckets for flushing but we only lost power for a little bit. Snow in Spring is normal, and it never gets me down like mid winter when it is dark so early, I know it will not stay. Just getting cozy and curled up like a wooly bear caterpillar. Filled the bird feeders for the poor little things, yesterday all the snow had finally gone and I saw a robin.
Reality check for me after seeing your post. I’m complaining about being cold at 56 degrees after a week of 70-80. It takes a tough person to live in cold snowy conditions. Give me humidity and 90 degrees anytime over snow. Praying you though out soon.
believe it or not, you do get acclimated. The 30's and snow require a coat and hat and gloves of course, but it is not cold to those of us up here, cold is when your face hurts and it creeps through all the layers. It's still coming down, too, at 4 30 pm est. My work is at home, and it was expected, went out to play with my dog, throwing snowballs. Started dahlia bulbs in pots indoors, it is Spring after all!! It will be in the 50's by Monday. I sure wouldnt want to be a lineman working on the power outages though, those guys are heros.
We had some 50s and 60s in Minnesota last month and it’s normally below 32 and even closer to 0 most days. We already had spring, then a slushy snow and some cold but the snow is almost gone. I think the last 10 years we usually have snow covering the grass until May. Sometimes people don’t have places to put it.
