That is terrible...the deer ticks are in woods usually but I know how disgusting it is to get those brown ticks...too bad about the chickens...they should not let that dog roam...I would make that clear to the owner...what a mess...and dangerous to boot...sometimes neighbors just aren't very neighborly, unfortunately...
This one happens to be the Pastor of the church. How do you tell him to get rid of a chicken killing dog or keep it locked up? That's why George hit it in the head with a heavy stick. He may have to do it again, although the dog doesn't deserve to be hit by doing something dogs have evolved in doing from their ancestry. But we must do something to keep it away. As for the ticks, there are lots of Cedar Trees around the yard and in the wooded area around my home. I hear ticks thrive on cedar trees.
P. S. The kids were so upset about Foggy the rooster that they had a funeral for him with the few feathers that the dog left in the yard. Those kids came running in really fast that day screaming and crying that the dog had Foggy in his mouth. By the time they got inside, he had done ran through the woods beside the house and back to his neighborhood home. Probably ate poor Foggy in the woods.
Pastor or not he needs to be made aware of what his dog is doing...it is traumatic for the kids to have to witness these things...AND it is a danger to your animals and possibly your grandkids...you may be surprised that the pastor would want to know...ignorance is not always bliss...
Yes ma'am. The only way now to prove it or say something to him about it is to release my daughters chickens. This happened year before last as the neighbors no longer raise any chickens and nothing was said. The dog comes over now to forage whatever he can find for scraps or whatever that is thrown out for the wildlife. But if I hear of anyone who sees the dog doing something, you bet I will go to the Pastor and tell him myself. Then I will tell him everything his chicken eating dog has done.
