He opposed both forms of socialism: Communism and Fascism, and he asked to be part of the D-Day landings. Wounded during the previous World War 1, he wanted to be part of the fight. June 6, his group of landing craft were moved off course by the English Channel waves. Once ashore, he rallied troops in his group to fight while walking the beach with a cane. A month later, his heart gave, and he rests in peace at the Normandy American Cemetery, France. https://www.cmohs.org/news-events/medal-of-honor-recipient-profile/theodore-roosevelt-jr/
He was the only General to land on D-Day and also the oldest person to land. He led from the front. Since he was a General, he wound up taking forces to Germany. Two weeks after Germany fell, he died in France. He had heart problems and a variety of other problems. President Roosevelt also had a pilot son who was shot down and killed in World War I.
it says he died in 1944 but the reich did not fall until 1945, so you are off. Quentin Roosevelt was moved from his grave in the village he was shot down at to be buried next to his brother
from commiepedia on Quentin's grave:
In 1955, eleven years after the World War II American Cemetery was established in France at Colleville-sur-Mer, Quentin's body was exhumed and moved there. Quentin's remains were moved in order to be buried next to his eldest brother Ted, who had died of a heart attack in France in 1944, shortly after leading his troops in landings on Utah Beach on D-Day as Assistant 4th Infantry Division Commander (an act which would earn him the Medal of Honor).
