It reminded me of that series Crash Landing on You, which has a sub-narrative, of Korean people wanting to re-unify, because they speak the same language and have relatives, and in the case of the series - lovers, on both sides of the DMZ. Oooh and tunnels - and a look at NK refugee population in SK. Keep in mind that this sticky situation was caused by a proxy-war between superpowers (US and China) on the impoverished-by-centuries-of-Japanese-Imperialism Korean soil, back in the 1950's. The narrative was that the USA would sort the Korean issue once and for all, and push 'communism' back - and kinda failing. So the DMZ was part of the Iron Curtain that established itself between super-powers. To the Chinese, the US incursion was pure Western aggression right on their border, and of course they were helping their Korean cousins.

In any case, balloons and drones are equalizers, because pepes can just make one.
