And I upvoted you due to the crap I've seen since Vietnam...So right there with you...example:
when someone says they got the Bronze Star or Silver Star I begin to wonder about that decoration...Usually I will preface the question like: " You got the Bronze Star?" what did you do to receive it?????? I have an Army guy who is like that and he was in Artillary during Gulf War...and WILL NOT SAY HOW HE GOT IT...
NOTE: Vietnam Vet and have spent 30yrs in the military...Ret E-8!!!!!
Rock on! I served with many Vietnam Vets in the early 80s...USAF at the time. Many of them had Bronze Stars. Judging from their character and what dumbasses they were, I questioned how so many could earn that medal. That was when I learned about the "V" device for valor. Without it, it was just a meritorious achievement medal earned in a combat zone. As the saying went, "I spent 6 months in the 'Nam and didn't f&@k up" .
AND YOU ARE SO RIGHT ON THE "V" device...without it, it's just a participation medal!!!
I was in USAF when I went to Vietnam...Security Forces...guess what...I got shot at more than I can remember and played footsies with the Victor Charlie & NVA!!!!!!!! Just like the Army!!!!!!
Stay Safe and keep the head on a swival!!!!!! As the saying goes!!!!
